Join us for this hands-on learning experience!
This free event is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the different career paths available with IT. From middle school to college, students of all ages and technical experience levels are welcome.
At this event, you'll be able to participate in interactive workshops such as developing your own mobile app, working with networking cables, and learning to code. You'll also get the chance to chat with CF alumni about their careers in the IT industry, talk to employers about local IT jobs, and meet college representatives from admissions, financial aid and advising.
Food will be provided, and there will be a giveaway of an iPad Mini!

Programming with Sally Douglass
The session will present the wide uses of coding in all computer applications, whether hardware, networking, software or the Internet. Coding's simplest definition is that it tells a computer what the user wants the computer to do. Understanding the basics of coding can help you understand how things work in many areas of computing. Session includes a demonstration of basic code in Python and how a computer follows an algorithm to produce graphics.
Mobile App Development with Amy Osborne
Mobile applications are used every day, from playing games to finding directions, ordering goods to connecting with friends. In this session, you will learn the differences between application types and platforms, while getting a hands-on introduction to creating your first application. The battle between Android and iPhone plays on!
Networking Cables with Steve Stahl
In our wireless world, we still depend on network cables. Network cables are the hardware used to connect one network device to other. There are different types of cables, such as coaxial, optical fiber and twisted pair. In this session, you will learn about twisted pair cables and have a hands-on opportunity to “make and take” a network cable.
Career Chat with CF Alumni
Hear from graduates of CF’s Information Technology and Management Information Systems programs about their college experience and in the local job market. Learn how to succeed in IT classes, get tips for navigating college and employment, and find out what skills are vital to the IT industry.

Keynote Speaker: Ovada Rowell
Ovada graduated from the College of Central Florida with an Associate in Arts degree and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Organizational Management —Management Information Systems Specialization. She also attended the Cisco Networking Academy and has held numerous Cisco certifications.
Ovada has been in the IT field for 10+ years. She is currently the Technology System Specialist for The Villages Technology Solutions Group where she maintains over 3,000 computers at The Villages Charter Schools and serves as lead project manager for a variety of IT projects. Ovada enjoys learning about new trends in technology and is eager to share her passion with students of all ages.
