CF is Accessible
Hearing-impaired, dyslexic, visually-impaired, or specific learning disability applicants are eligible for reasonable substitution for requirements for admission to the college, to a program of study, or graduation. Documentation must be provided showing that the person's failure to meet requirements is related to the disability. Details are available at Assistance for Students or by visiting Disability Services on the Ocala Campus, Bryant Student Union.
Placement Testing: Degree-seeking applicants to any university or community college in the Florida state system must present placement test scores as part of the application process. CF accepts any of the four tests authorized by the state (ACT, SAT, CPT pr PERT). PERT is the official placement test for state colleges in the state of Florida. CF regularly offers PERT on its campus.
Placement tests provide information about the reading, English, and mathematics skills that are required for success in college. By assessing ability levels in these areas, placement tests help determine the most appropriate English, mathematics, and reading courses students should take.
Scoring below the required cut-off score indicates the student is not ready for college level work in the specific area. Florida requires these students to complete non-credit college preparatory course work prior to entering college level work in the weak areas.
New degree-seeking students may not register for classes unless CF has placement test scores on file. PERT sample test question booklets and ACT and SAT registration packets are available at CF's Ocala campus Testing Center (Building 5, Room 205), as well as at the Citrus County campus Counseling office.
Transcripts: Degree-seeking students must be high school graduates or GED recipients and must submit an official high school transcript or official GED test scores. If the student is a college transfer student, an official transcript from each college or university previously attended must also be submitted immediately.
Opportunity to Succeed
Access to higher education is a concept held in high esteem at College of Central Florida. While emphasizing this concept, college officials believe that students should view this access as an opportunity carrying obligations which ensure realization of their goals.
