CF Theatre produces several major productions each year for the campus, community and young audiences. The program produces two major productions yearly and summer shows.

Guest performers and directors appear on an occasional basis. Guest artists work with students and credit courses in the history of theatre, acting, play production, costuming and make-up, scenic design, and more.

Also, there are a number of student-directed shows that the CF Theatre program produces. With more than 150 students taking the stage each year, there is an opportunity for any student who wants to audition.

The CF Theatre presents "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald and adapted for the stage by Simon Levy. This production is directed by Dr. Kathleen Downs, associate professor, theatre, Visual and Performing Arts Department and presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, passionately pursues the elusive Daisy Buchanan. Nick Caraway, a young newcomer to Long Island, is drawn into their world of obsession, greed and danger. The breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the 1920's Jazz Age come to the stage in this classic novel. 

Adult content and simulated gun shots. May not be suitable for children under age 16.

Adult tickets $12, non-CF student $6, CF students, faculty and staff free. Handicap seating and companion seats are available by calling the CF Box Office at 352-873-5810 or visiting the Box Office in the lobby of the auditorium Monday-Friday 1-4 p.m.


The CF Theatre Department in collaboration with Directing I Class present:

"CF Student Play Festival" including several one-act plays over two nights. 

Monday-Thursday, April 27-30, 6 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre. The plays are directed by the students in the Directing I class at CF and produced by Dr. Kathleen Downs, associate professor, theatre.

Tickets are free but seating is limited in the Black Box Theatre. Please call 352-873-5810 or pick up tickets in the Box Office located in the lobby of building 4, open Monday-Friday, 1-4 p.m.
